Beer Line Cleaner is a specialized cleaning solution designed to maintain the hygiene and functionality of beer dispensing systems. Here’s a breakdown of its key aspects:
Purpose and Function
- Purpose: It’s used to clean beer lines, extractors, manifolds, and taps, ensuring that the beer served is of high quality by removing residues and contaminants.
- Function: The cleaner dissolves residues such as beer stone, yeast, tannins, and proteins, and rinses them away. This prevents buildup that could affect beer taste and system performance.
Composition and Safety
- Composition: It comes in two parts:
- Part 1: Has a pH of 13.2 - 13.7 and is a clear, colourless liquid.
- Part 2: Has a pH of 3.0 - 4.0 and is also a clear, colourless liquid.
- Safety:
- Part 1 is classified as a Class 8 corrosive liquid (U.N. No: 1719), so it requires careful handling.
- Part 2 is less corrosive but still requires caution.
- Not Suitable: For older tinned copper Temprites.
Environmental Impact
- Conformity: Meets environmental standards and is based on safe ingredients.
- Recycling: Containers can be cleaned, reused, or recycled, reducing plastic waste.
Quality Assurance
- Standards: Manufactured under the AS/NZS ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ensuring high standards.
Application Process
- Preparation: Flush beer lines with water.
- Mix Solution:
- Add 60ml of Part 1 and 60ml of Part 2 to 5 litres of cold water. For neglected lines or hard water, use 120ml of each part.
- Important: Never mix Part 1 and Part 2 directly together.
- Cleaning: Fill the beer lines with the solution, letting it sit for at least 2 hours.
- Rinse: Thoroughly rinse the lines with clean water.
- Final Rinse: Refill the lines with clean water and keep it in the lines until you’re ready to serve beer.
- Frequency: Clean the beer lines at least once a week, ideally twice a week.
